1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the MarketRelay website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). It does not govern third-party websites, platforms, or services that have their own privacy practices.

By connecting an account or using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Account and identity information

When you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive the authentication identifier and basic profile details needed to create your account, such as your display name and avatar. We do not receive or store your Google or GitHub password.

Social and market content

We collect publicly available market commentary, profile details, links, timestamps, and engagement metrics from supported data sources. We analyze this content to determine finance relevance and organize signals by security or ticker.

Product activity and technical information

We may process actions you take in the Service, API usage, preferences, support messages, IP address, browser and device information, request timestamps, and security logs. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral advertising trackers.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • authenticate you and maintain your account;
  • identify finance-relevant sources from accounts you follow;
  • extract, group, and summarize viewpoints by ticker;
  • provide source links, personalized briefs, and sync status;
  • create non-personalized public research pages from qualified interpretations of public commentary;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • respond to support, correction, removal, and privacy requests; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Public research pages do not identify who follows an account or expose a user’s personalized feed. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personalized feed for targeted advertising.

4. Automated and AI processing

The Service uses automated systems and third-party AI inference providers to classify accounts, identify potential securities and viewpoints, and create summaries. Relevant public post text, account profile information, and limited contextual metadata may be sent to those providers for processing.

AI-generated classifications and summaries may be incomplete or wrong. We preserve links to original posts so you can inspect the underlying source.

We do not authorize our service providers to use your personal information for their own advertising. Their handling of data is governed by contractual terms and their applicable policies.

5. How information is shared

We disclose information only as reasonably necessary in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. Cloud infrastructure, authentication, social-data API, AI inference, security, and operational vendors process data on our behalf.
  • At your direction. When you choose to open an original post or otherwise interact with a third-party service.
  • Legal and safety reasons. To comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests; protect rights and safety; or investigate abuse.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.

Public X posts remain subject to X’s terms and the original author’s rights.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use essential authentication technology, including a secure session cookie, to keep you signed in and protect your account. The session cookie is not used for advertising and generally expires within 30 days unless you sign out earlier. Our authentication provider may use necessary cookies or browser storage to complete sign-in and prevent abuse.

You can block cookies in your browser, but core account features may stop working.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep account information, followed-source classifications, collected public posts, extracted viewpoints, and generated briefs while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited security logs, transaction records, and backups for a reasonable period where necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and system recovery.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personalized data by emailing hello@marketrelay.dev. We will verify the request and delete or de-identify covered data unless retention is legally required.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a data protection authority.

California residents may request to know, correct, or delete covered personal information and may exercise those rights without discriminatory treatment. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by California law.

Submit requests to hello@marketrelay.dev. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, with your consent where requested, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

10. International transfers

MarketRelay is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws from your location. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards.

11. Security and children

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport, restricted secrets, secure session cookies, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information to the Service.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the Service or law changes. We will post the revised policy with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights.

Questions or requests may be sent to hello@marketrelay.dev.
